Andrea De Micheli graduated at the Academy of Fine Arts  and at the Italian School of Opera in Bologna.
He made is debut in 2005/2006 at the Teatro Comunale in Bologna, he has designed sets of “Paolo & Francesca” opera, directed by Massimiliano \\Briarava Cossati. After that, he has designed the graphic images for the Musical “The Beggar’s Holiday” by D. Ellington, directed by Gianni Marras, produced by Teatro Comunale in Bologna. In the season 2008/2009 he has designed sets for the diptych “Phaedra” by B. Britten and “La voix Humaine” by F. Poulenc, directed by Sara Gamarro, at Teatro Alessandro Guardassoni, produced by Teatro Comunale in Bologna. After that he has designed scenery for the Musical “Il bacio della donna ragno” by J. Kander (national premiere), directed by Gianni Marras, produced by Teatro Comunale in Bologna. In Florence, he has designed sets for the play “Il guerriero del Cielo” directed by Alessandro Riccio, at Teatro Comunale in Antella (season 2012/2013). During the season 2013/2014/2015 he has designed the scenery for “Don Giovanni” by W.A. Mozart, directed by Rosetta Cucchi, in coproduction by Opera de Tenerife, Teatro Luciano Pavarotti in Modena, Teatro Municipale in Piacenza, Teatro Del Giglio in Lucca. In the season 2014/2015 he has designed sets for the play “Il vagabondo delle stelle“, directed by Rosetta Cucchi, in coproduction at Teatro Luciano Pavarotti in Modena and Teatro Rossini in Lugo. In Cosenza he has designed the scenery for “Il barbiere di Siviglia” (premiere) by G. Rossini, directed by Rosetta Cucchi, produced by Teatro Alfonso Rendano. In the season 2015/2016, he reproduced the Opera “Don Giovanni” directed by Rosetta Cucchi, at Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa. In 2017 he designed sets for the opera “La Bohème” directed by Stefania Panighini for the 69th Festival of the Ente Luglio Musicale Trapanese, in the same year and in 2018 he has designed together with Maurizio Balò the exhibitions “1927, Il ritorno in Italia” and “L’Italia a Hollywood” at Salvatore Ferragamo Museum in Florence. In 2019, he has designed the scenery for “La Traviata” at the Teatro delle Muse in Ancona (premiere) directed by Stefania Panighini, in coproduction with the Daegu Opera House in South Korea. With the same director he has designed sets for the opera “Don Pasquale“, produced by Teatro Opera Giocosa in Savona (premiere). The same year, in collaboration with the director Federico Bertolani, he has designed sets for “Verdi Opera Gala ”, produced by Teatro Municipale in Piacenza. In the season 2022/2023 he has designed together with Maurizio Balò the exhibitions “1955/1965 Donne in equilibrio” at Salvatore Ferragamo Museum in Florence.
​Since 2005 he started to collaborate with Rinaldo Rinaldi scenic painter and set designer, since 2013 he worked with Leonardo Laboratorio Costruzioni as set decorator and technical designer for various theatrical settings and performances.
Since 2008 he worked both as a set collaborator and decorator with several scenographers  as Maurizio Balò, Rinaldo Rinaldi, Lorenzo Cutùli, Italo Grassi, Tiziano Santi, Davide Amadei and directors as Maurizio Scaparro, Massimo Popolizio, Cesare Lievi, Lorenzo Mariani, Piero Maccarinelli, Stefano Vizioli, Francesco Esposito, Francesco Micheli, Andrea Cigni, Cristina Pezzoli, Massimo Ranieri, Leo Nucci.
Since 2019 he combines his experience as set designer with a career in the academic field holding the role of Professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice, Bologna, Genoa, and Perugia.
